New Brunswick Dental Society FAQs
Can a General Practitioner perform Orthodontics? Should I see a specialist? What is the difference?
Your dentist may do basic orthodontic treatment or, if needed, refer you to an orthodontist. An orthodontist is a dental specialist with 2 to 3 years of extra university training in this area and only performs orthodontics.
